PETALING JAYA, Sept. 11 -- Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Ghani has reportedly said that developers involved in the Kampung Sungai Baru redevelopment should ensure affordable homes are made available for the Malay community there.

He said the land had originally been granted to the Malays by the Selangor sultan during the colonial period and therefore any redevelopment must prioritise their interests, Free Malaysia Today reported.

"Since the matter has progressed and likely cannot be reversed, the developers must take the responsibility of ensuring that the Malays will be able to afford the homes to be built there," he was quoted as saying.
