In this feature, we explore her philosophy, her space, and her mission - inviting you to discover how yoga can truly transform lives.
Could you give us a small introduction of yourself?
Certainly. My name is Miuru Jayaweera, and my journey with yoga began in a very organic way. I must be honest - there wasn't a dramatic turning point in my life that led me to yoga. I was simply a new mother with a very active lifestyle. I had always loved movement - be it working out, going to the gym, swimming, running, or even dancing. I wasn't a professional dancer, but I have always appreciated movement as an essential part of my life. With my naturally high energy, I was drawn to yoga, initially through the asanas, the postures, which I simply enjoyed performing.
Your journey with yoga has clearly transformed your own life. Can you share a personal turning point when you realised this path was your true calling?
Honestly, there wasn't a single turning point. My journey was gradual. While practising asanas and breathwork, I began to notice subtle changes - shifts in my subconscious, meditative awareness, and energy that I had not experienced through other forms of physical activity. That curiosity drew me deeper into yoga's philosophy and practice. The true sense of calling, however, came later when I began teaching. Guiding others and witnessing their transformations made me realise that my purpose was not just to practise yoga for myself, but to share it with others.
