Afghanistan, Sept. 7 -- A devastating fire engulfed the main marketplace of Khwaja Bahauddin district in Takhar early Sunday, destroying over 40 shops and crippling livelihoods within hours of uncontrolled flames.
A huge fire broke out in the Khwaja Bahauddin marketplace around 2:30 a.m., spreading rapidly across interconnected stalls. Local residents struggled for three hours to contain the blaze.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that more than 40 shops were completely destroyed. Each business reportedly held investments worth several lakh Afghanis, with goods and structures entirely reduced to ashes.
