Islamabad police have detained Afghan journalist Noorullah Akbari, according to multiple sources familiar with the incident on Tuesday. The arrest comes amid a growing campaign targeting Afghan nationals living in Pakistan.
Sources said Akbari had been awaiting the extension of his Pakistani visa when he was taken into custody. His visa renewal was still under review at the time of the arrest.
