Afghanistan, Jan. 13 -- Officials from the Nangarhar Environmental Protection Department reported that a wild animal, identified as a hyena, was handed over by local residents and subsequently released back into the wild.

According to Bakhtar News Agency on Monday, January 13, the hyena had been captured in the Kashkot area of Khogyani district, Nangarhar, by local nomads to prevent potential harm. After being handed over to the department, it was set free in its natural habitat.

Officials stated that the hyena was treated and then released into the wild in the presence of members from a joint committee dedicated to wildlife protection and release.
