India, April 21 -- US Vice President JD Vance on Monday arrived in India to commence his four-day visit to the South Asian country.

He is accompanied by his India-origin Second Lady Usha Vance and their children.

He is scheduled to meet Indian PM Narendra Modi later in the day.

Vance is visiting India in the shadow of President Donald Trump's recent announcement of US trade tariffs.

This is Vice President Vance's first visit to India.

Modi is set to host a dinner for JD Vance and Second Lady Usha on Monday evening, after holding talks with the US Vice President focusing on trade, tariff, and several other key issues, media reports said.

Besides Delhi, Vance and his family will travel to Jaipur and Agra.
