Mumbai/IBNS, Oct. 31 -- The weddings in India are set to generate Rs. 6.5 lakh crore business this year as estimated by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), media reports said.

The income is likely to be generated from 46 lakh weddings planned to be held in the window of November 1-December 14.

Delhi, the national capital of the country, will solely contribute Rs. 1.8 lakh crore from 4.8 lakh weddings.

Khandelwal said the country's mood is currently 'vocal for local' when it comes to destination or decour.

Last year, the report said 48 lakh weddings were held generating Rs. 5.9 lakh crore while 38 lakh weddings took place generating Rs. 4.74 lakh crore in 2023.
