New Delhi, March 15 -- India exported nearly 255 million kg of tea worth Rs.7,111 crore in 2024, marking a 10% increase from 232 million kg in 2023, Moneycontrol reported.

The export value also saw a 15% rise from Rs.6,161 crore the previous year, the report said.

Agarwal noted growing demand in CIS countries, the US, and the Middle East, attributing the trend to stricter compliance with Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) norms and early closure of tea estates in Assam and West Bengal, the report said.

While exports are expected to remain strong in 2025, a larger crop yield could moderate prices.
