Chandigarh/IBNS, March 15 -- Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Surendra Jawahar was on Friday shot dead by his neighbour over a land dispute in the Sonipat district, media reports said.
Jawahar, who was the BJP's Mundlana Mandal president, was reportedly shot dead at 9:30 pm inside a shop where the victim was chased to by the accused.
Police said the accused, who has been identified as Munna, warned Jawahar over setting a foot on a land, which the BJP leader had allegedly bought in the name of the suspect's aunt.
On Friday night, Jawahar went to clear the land when the suspect got enraged and shot him.
Singh said Jawahar was in a long standing dispute with the accused over the land which is subjudice.
