NAVI MUMBAI, INDIA - JULY 4: In a joint action by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), around 400 kg of plastic bags were seized from two stores in Nerul, on July 4, 2019 in Navi Mumbai, India. Officials are also keeping an eye on plastic imports from Karnataka, Daman and Gujarat, as they believe that plastic is being outsourced from the neighbouring states. The state-wide ban on plastic items had come into force on June 23 last year. Since then, the civic body has been campaigning against the use of plastic items.
