vIB arrests BEO for accepting bribe in Bhojpur
ARA, Aug. 28 -- The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team on Wednesday arrested Shahpur Block Education Officer (BEO) in Bhojpur district, Mohammad Ghulam Sarwar, red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh.
Officials said the bribe was being taken in the name of helping process the payment of pending salary of a teacher. Along with the BEO, the team also caught medical officer Mohammad Qadir, who was acting as a mediator.
As per the complaint, Santosh Kumar Pathak, a resident of Nenua village in Buxar district and currently working as a special teacher at Primary School, Banshipur, had not received his salary of Rs.8.54 lakh due to his missing service book.
The BEO allegedly demanded 12% of the amount as bribe to clear the payment....
