UGC Regulations 2026 a Hard-Won Victory: AISA
Ranchi, Jan. 28 -- Jharkhand unit of the All India Students' Association (AISA) on Tuesday welcomed the newly issued University Grants Commission (Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2026.
Terming the rules as a "victory of struggles," leaders expressed deep skepticism regarding the regulations' long-term impact on campus justice.
AISA Jharkhand state secretary Trilokinath and Ranchi district president Vijay Kumar said the regulations-which aimed to eliminate discrimination based on caste, religion, and disability-were not a government gift but a result of years of prolonged student movements following the institutional murders of Rohith Vemula, Payal Tadvi, and Darshan Solanki.
