DHANBAD, March 19 -- Three members of a family were brutally murdered in Jharkhand's Godda district, allegedly over suspicions of witchcraft, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Danga village (Shishu Tola) under Devdand police station limits in Podaiyahat block late Monday night. According to police, the victims - a middle-aged man, his wife, and their minor son - were attacked with sharp-edged weapons while asleep around 2 am. All three sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot. Preliminary findings indicate that the crime may have been driven by superstition linked to 'witchcraft' (dayan-bisahi). During investigation, police also found indications of involvement of relatives (gotia) in the crime.
