Theft at Gopalganj Thawe temple
PATNA, Dec. 19 -- Unidentified miscreants committed a daring robbery at a famous Durga temple (Thawe) in Gopalganj, looting gold and silver ornaments worth crores, police said on Thursday.
At least two thieves, with their faces covered, scaled the temple's wall and escaped with the stolen valuable, as seen in CCTV footage, police added.
The entire robbery that happened around 11.45pm on Wednesday was captured on CCTV cameras installed on the temple premises. The footage reveals the thieves skillfully climbing the temple walls using a rope/ladder and sneaking inside.
They proceeded to break the locks, took the ornaments and flee with the donation box.
The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the temple priest found broken locks and discovered the missing valuables.
Police said the thieves took away the gold and silver crown, precious necklace and other ornaments adorned on the statue of Maa Durga. Not only this, the thieves also targeted the locker (donation) placed inside the temple....
