PATNA, Dec. 8 -- Suspected Maoists allegedly abducted a CPI leader from Ghoghi village under Pidi Bazar police station limits in Lakhisarai district on Friday evening. However, police have not yet confirmed their role in the crime.
The incident occurred close to the volatile inter-state border near Jharkhand's Maoist stronghold of Giridihdivision.
The abduction triggered panic in the villages dotting the dense forest region along the Bihar-Jharkhand border.
According to sources, a group of Maoist rebels abducted the leader, Madan Mohan Singh, from his house in Ghoghi village.
Police sources said local land issues could be the motive behind Madan's abduction.
