PATNA, Dec. 16 -- A joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and Samsatipur district police arrested Baijnath Kumar, carrying a reward of Rs.25,000 on his head, under Patori police station in Samastipur district on Sunday night. "The STF identified the arrested accused as Baijnath Thakur of Uttari Dhamona under Patori police station in Samsatipur. He was a wanted criminal involved in the robbery of gold jewellery from Bank of Maharashtra, Samsatipur branch in May, 2025," police said. "Acting on a tip off, on the night of December 14, in a joint operation, STF and Samsatipur police raided the house of Baijnath at Uttari Dhamona and arrested him with the looted gold jewellery. The raiding team also seized two pairs of gold earnings, one gold necklace, one gold chain, one gold mangalsutra weighing 66 grams and one cellphone. Baijmath was involved in at least 13 cases of dacoity, extortion, kidnapping and robbery," the police added. It is worth mentioning that on May 7, the criminals had looted gold jewellery of 9.75 kg from Bank of Maharashtra under Nagar police station in Samsatipur. So far, over 3.5 kg of the jewellery has been recovered....
