BHAGALPUR, Feb. 7 -- In an incident which has shamed the police, a sub inspector (SI) stabbed a constable following an altercation in Bihar's Bhagalpur on Friday morning. The injured constable was reportedly undergoing treatment at JLN Medical College and Hospital, Bhagalpur and his condition was stated to be critical. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to nab the SI who has been absconding since the incident. The incident took place at Naugachia market where the constable and the SI posted at Naugachia were shopping. "Much to my shock and surprise the the SI suddenly turned into violent after light hearted exchange of words during shopping and he soon attacked me with a knife," the injured constable identified as 30- year old Vishal Kumar Singh told police. Soon after the incident the SI fled the scene, he said. The sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Om Prakash while confirming the incident said SIT has been constituted to arrest the SI and an FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of Bhartiya nyaya sanhita (BNS). He however didn't reveal the name of the SI....
