RANCHI, Feb. 22 -- In a notable shift in the structure of the state's economy, Services has overtaken industry to become the largest sector, rising from 38.54% of Gross State Value Added (GSVA) in 2011-12 to 45.56% in 2024-25, the Jharkhand Economic Survey 2025-26 said. The survey, which was tabled in the Assembly by finance minister Radha Kirshna Kishore on Saturday, forecasted a slight dip in the growth rate of Jharkhand's gross state domestic product (GSDP) at 5.96% for the upcoming financial year (2026-27) - a slight dip from 6.17% in the current fiscal year (2025-26). Shedding light on the state's economic structural shift, the survey stated that in 2024-25, Services contributed 52% GSVA growth, followed by Industry at 23% and Agriculture at 16 percent. "The Services sector is projected to continue its expansion, with GSVA reaching Rs.137,730 crore in 2025-26 and Rs.148,479 crore in 2026-27, representing growth of 8.84% and 7.81 percent, respectively. Its share in total GSVA is expected to rise to 46.65% and 47.17%. Within Services, financial services has shown particularly robust growth at 11-19% in recent years, with GSVA projected at Rs.10,837 crore in 2025-26 and Rs.11,893 crore in 2026-27," the Survey said. On the state of the overall GSDP, the survey predicted a slight dip in the current fiscal and the upcoming fiscal compared to the previous financial year (2024-25), when it clocked a growth of 7.02 percent, exceeding the national rate of 6.5%.
