Samriddhi Yatra: Nitish lauds Modi for Bihar's development
BHABUA/SASARAM, March 25 -- Chief minister Nitish Kumar while addressing public meetings during the fifth phase of his Samriddhi Yatra in Kaimur and Rohtas districts on Tuesday, repeatedly lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for their special contributions toward the all-round development of Bihar.
He said that, in its successive budgets, the central government has made special provisions for Bihar's infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, electricity, drinking water, and all other essential amenities. The Prime Minister has visited Bihar on numerous occasions to lay the foundation stones and to inaugurate various vital projects. "For this, I pay my humble respects to the Honourable Prime Minister," Kumar said.
Characterizing the previous governments as ineffectual and ruinous to the state, Kumar detailed at length the historic development and welfare initiatives undertaken by his own administration since 2005.
He announced that, over the next five years, jobs and employment opportunities would be provided to 10 million unemployed individuals in Bihar. The average per capita income is set to be doubled. Industrial corridors will be established across all districts to attract major industries, and all defunct sugar mills will be revived.
In the field of renewable energy, the government has sanctioned installing of 50 lakh rooftop solar panels on people's houses and the all free of cost, he announced.
Marketing mechanisms will be put in place to boost agricultural productivity and improve the economic condition of farmers by providing them access to competitive markets. He further announced plans to establish a Model School and a degree college in every administrative block of the state. Additionally, he declared that district and block-level hospitals would be upgraded into specialized medical centers, and that the private practice of government doctors would be prohibited.
Earlier, Kumar inspected the under-construction 520-bed minority hostel at Naughada, the ancestral village of minority welfare minister Mohammad Zama Khan under Chainpur assembly constituency in Kaimur. The hostel will have an equal number of seats for boys and girls.
He also inspected the ambitious project underway at Anicut in Dehri, which aims to treat water from the Sone River and supply via pipelines to the Sasaram, Dehri, and Aurangabad towns. This project is scheduled for completion by March 2027, providing relief to the local population from severe drinking water crises during the summer months.
The CM inaugurated 161 projects and schemes worth Rs.162 crore and laid the foundation of 43 schemes worth Rs.47 crore in Kaimur. In Rohtas, he inaugurated 161 projects worth Rs.158.6 crore and laid the foundation stone for 43 projects worth Rs.46.88 crore. The projects include infrastructure, education, drinking water and other public welfare schemes.
Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary announced the opening of a high security jail at Adhaura on Kaimur Hills where dreaded terrorists will be incarcerated.
Water Resource Development Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary mentioned the Sone-Kohira River Link project and Ganga Canal Project sanctioned in Kaimur to solve long standing irrigation and drinking water problems. Agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav and minority welfare minister Md Zama Khan lauded the role of CM in all-round development of Bihar.
