Samrat govt to follow Nitish model: Dy CMs
PATNA, April 16 -- Deputy chief ministers from JD(U) Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, as well as BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi, said on Wednesday that Bihar would follow the Nitish Kumar model of governance and take forward his programmes and policies.
BJP leaders refrained from showing much euphoria over the installation of its first CM in Bihar after a long wait. "There was an NDA government in Bihar and there is again an NDA government," said Saraogi, as he came out of the swearing in ceremony.
Yadav and Choudhary were on Wednesday designated as deputy chief ministers of the Samrat Choudhary-led government in Bihar as per the secretariat notification.
Both are veterans of Bihar politics and have been part of many cabinets. They together will hold around 18 portfolios, some of which may be distributed to others as the cabinet will expand likely later this month.
Choudhary expressed gratitude towards former CM and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar for the faith reposed in him. "Today my oath as deputy CM is the result of that trust, Nitish Kumar's style of functioning, his programmes and policies. The direction he has shown will be our guiding force," he said.
The deputy CM said the new government would take forward the Nitish government's programmes and policies, a point CM Samrat Choudhary reiterated after being elected NDA leader on Tuesday. "We have to follow the lines Nitish Kumar has set. His model is something the country appreciates," he added.
Yadav, a nine-time MLA starting 1991, said that the priorities set by the Nitish government, including emphasis on industrial development, would be the focus of the new government. He added that the small cabinet's expansion will take place after state elections.
"Right now, everyone is busy with the polls," he said.
"Nitish Kumar transformed Bihar and we must carry that forward," he said, adding that while Nitish's son, Nishant Kumar, decided not to join the government, he should come forward.
On Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav's attack on Samrat, describing him as a product of Lalu Prasad's school, Yadav slammed the RJD leader asking him to explain which school he got trained in....
