SAMASTIPUR, Feb. 14 -- A 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday evening for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a four-year-old girl in Bihar's Samastipur district, police said. The incident follows a recent child rape-and-murder case in neighbouring Darbhanga. The accused, Shankar Sada, a married neighbour and father of two, allegedly lured the child to a nearby wheat field, where he attempted to assault her and inflicted bite injuries on several parts of her body, officials said. The girl, who lives with her mother at her maternal grandmother's house for schooling, had been playing outside her home around 4 pm when she suddenly went missing. Family members launched a search and found her unconscious in the field around 7 pm. Villagers approaching the area with torches spotted the accused fleeing and later identified him, leading to his arrest. "The accused has been taken into custody and is being interrogated. Further action is being carried out as part of the investigation," said additional superintendent of police (ASP) Sanjay Pandey. The child was admitted to a private nursing home where doctor confirmed injuries consistent with an attempted sexual assault. Medical examination revealed bite marks on the upper body. The doctors said that the girl is now stable and recovering. No injuries were noticed on the private parts however....
