PATNA, Sept. 20 -- Former MP and estranged brother -in-law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Anirudh Prasad Yadav alias Sadhu Yadav led party Garib Janata Dal (Secular) has been delisted as one among the total 15 delisted parties from Bihar categorised as registered unrecognised political parties ( RUPPs) by the Election Commission of India( ECI). In an order issued on Friday, the central poll panel directed all chief electoral officers of states to delist 474 RUPPs across India after verification and due hearings for not conforming to rules. The ECI said RUPPs delisted had not contested any election continuously for last six years as per the rules and thus, were served notices after verification and given an opportunity to present their case. Sadhu Yadav he had himself chosen to surrender (close) his party recently as his outfit was not contesting polls for long. "We launched this party in 2015 and had fielded around 123 candidates in the state polls in the same year. But later on we did not contest polls. So, I decided to give up the party ," Yadav said. A prominent face of opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD), Yadav had courted controversies during the heydays of the RJD rule from 1990 to 2005 when his jijaji (RJD chief Lalu Prasad) and sister and former CM Rabri Devi were in power. Yadav had won the Gopalganj seat in 2004 parliamentary polls . After RJD lost power in 2005, Yadav fell from grace and had snapped ties with the RJD's first family, as per reports. In its order, ECI said a verification of total 474 RUPPs were done to ascertain whether they were contesting polls for the last six years or not and also conforming to other election rules. After the verification and due hearings, the 474 parties were found wanting in compliance of the prescribed rules and thus, have been directed to be marked as delisted by respective chief electoral officers of states....
