PATNA, July 18 -- Bihar government on Thursday sanctioned subsidiary grant of Rs.3,026.21 crore for salary and retirement benefits of teachers of state universities, non-teaching employees and the guest teachers for the period of June 2025 to February 2026. The government's letter clearly states that the funds include increased dearness allowance and dearness relief of 55%, as determined in January 2025. LN Mithila University (Darbhanga) has got the highest allocation of Rs.470.05 crore, followed by BRA Bihar University (Rs.460.28 crore), Magadh University (Rs.444.77 crore) and Pataliputra University (Rs. 310.14 crore), while Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University got the lowest (Rs.6.24 crore). Rest of the universities include Patna University (Rs. 210.5 crore), Veer Kunwar Singh University (Rs.221.92 crore), BN Mandal University (Rs.222.12 crore), Jai Prakash University (Rs.225.09 crore) TM Bhagalpur University (Rs. 227.83 crore), Purnea University (Rs.102.49 crore), Munger University (Rs.66.84 crore) and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University (Rs.57.94 crore). Higher education director NK Agarwal said that the salary for June would be released in a couple of days and efforts are on for release of July salary also by the end of this month or first week of August. In May, the government had released the grant of Rs.1,094.09 crore for Bihar's 13 state universities for March to May salary.
