RJD MP levels corruption charges in BAU, VC refutes
PATNA, April 4 -- RJD MP from Buxar Sudhakar Singh on Friday levelled serious allegations regarding administrative and academic irregularities in the process of appointment of scientists, teachers and many non-teaching posts against Bihar Agriculture University (Sabour, Bhagalpur) vice chancellor DR Singh.
He said that he had held a Press conference on September 26, 2025 and informed both the chief minister and governor regarding the lapses and corruption charges against the VC, who also faces probe in Uttar Pradesh, but no investigation/action was ordered , as a result of which more corruption has come to light.
Holding a Press Conference on Friday, Singh alleged that the VC had appointed his daughter Amita Singh as Business Manager at the incubation centre by changing the criteria and honorarium arbitrarily and robbed the deserving candidates of the opportunity.
"The honorarium was increased from Rs.30,000 to Rs. 1,25,000. What is more, the VC's daughter is not even regular in service and barely comes 2-5 days in a month. Yet, she has been holding the position for the last three years," he alleged.
The MP also said that the agency for manpower supply, M/s Lions Force Solution India Pvt. Ltd, Noida, has the VC's son Adarsh Kumar and another relative as partners. "The agency was allotted tender in a blatantly partisan way and it is also involved in taking commission from the contractual employees. Kishanganj MLA had also raised the matter strongly and it calls for proper inquiry," he added.
The VC also appointed eight persons against the advertised seven vacancies for the post of scientist (subject matter expert) in agronomy to accommodate a favourite candidate, who was unable to find place on merit. Similar irregularities have also been reported in other appointments, he added.
"Despite embargo on appointments by the agriculture minister through an order dated August 13, 2024 and government's order dated March 22, 2025, the VC has gone ahead with regular and contractual appointments to place favourite officials on key positions. Two inquiry committees were also constituted to probe the charges, but nothing happened. Despite policy decision by the government to carry out all appointments in the university through BPSC or other government agency, there has been no change," he lamented. The VC said that there was no substance in the allegations. "He is angry because I don't succumb to pressure and cannot yield to vested interests. I don't want to speak on why he is levelling unsubstantiated charges. My performance should be assessed on the basis of the performance of the university, which has achieved NAAC A ranking " he added....
