Primary schools reopen in Patna as winter chill eases
PATNA, Jan. 14 -- With winter haze clearing and partially sunny conditions prevailing, the Patna district administration on Tuesday allowed the reopening of primary schools from Class 1 onwards, while Montessori classes will remain suspended till January 16.
An order issued by Patna district magistrate Thiyagarajan SM said academic activities from Class 1 onwards may resume from 9am with due precautions. The directive will remain effective from January 14 to 16.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the lowest minimum temperature in the state on Tuesday was 5.9degC, recorded at Sabour in Bhagalpur. Minimum temperatures across Bihar ranged between 5.9degC and 11.4degC, with no significant change observed over the past 24 hours. The lowest visibility of 400 metres was reported from Purnea.
On the maximum temperature front, Kishanganj recorded the highest at 27.0degC on Monday, while Muzaffarpur logged the lowest at 20.6degC.
Overall, maximum temperatures across the state ranged between 20.6degC and 27.0degC, with dry weather conditions continuing.
The IMD has forecast dry weather across Bihar for the next seven days, with moderate to dense fog likely at many places during early morning and late evening hours.
No significant change is expected in maximum temperatures over the next 3-4 days, followed by a gradual rise, while minimum temperatures are likely to remain stable for the next 4-5 days.
The Bihar Mausam Sewa Kendra (BMSK) has predicted partially sunny conditions accompanied by strong winds across the state. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 6degC and 12degC, while maximum temperatures may remain between 22degC and 26degC.
Moderate to dense fog is likely in parts of Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, Purnea, Katihar, Madhepura, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran and West Champaran districts.
