PM to lay foundation, inaugurate 28 projects worth over Rs.5,897cr
PATNA, June 20 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Siwan visit on Friday would lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 28 projects of urban and housing developments, energy, jal shakti and railways worth Rs.5,897.81 crore, said an official on Thursday. The schemes include those of AMRUT, Namami Gange, Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojna (Sahri), Energy department and East Central Railways (ECR). This will be PM Modi's fourth visit to Bihar this year. Assembly election is scheduled in the state in Oct-Nov.
The visit is significant for Siwan and nearby districts such as Gopalganj and Saran (Chapra). Gopalganj is the home district of RJD chief Lalu Prasad while Siwan was once the bastion of late RJD MP and muscleman Mohd Shahabuddin. Siwan is the birthplace of the country's first president Rajendra Prasad.
The PM would flag off the first locomotive manufactured at the Marhowrah factory in Saran for export to the Republic of Guinea, said Dilip Kumar, executive director of information and publicity, Railway Board. The rail ministry noted that three types of tracks -- broad gauge, standard gauge and cape gauge -- have been laid at the Marhowrah factory for manufacturing these locomotives. "The diesel engines are fitted with DPWCS (Distributed Power Wireless Control System) for synchronised operations and superior freight handling. This positions the Marhowrah factory as a global hub for locomotive exports, boosting local employment and technology. This is a shining example of Atmanirbhar Bharat powering global infrastructure through innovation and quality manufacturing. We hope that Indian firms receive more such orders from other countries in future," Dilip added.
The PM will inaugurate the sixth Vande Bharat train between Patna (Patliputra) and Gorakhpur, covering a distance of 384 kilometres across Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, West Champaran as well as Kushinagar and Gorakhpur districts in Uttar Pradesh. The introduction of this semi high-speed train is expected to boost economic activities in North Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh regions. This is the first semi high-speed train service on the Patliputra-Muzaffarpur-Bettiah-Gorakhpur route. The train will start from Gorakhpur around 5.40am and arrive at Pataliputra at 12.45pm. On the return, the train will leave Patliputra at 3.30 pm and reach Gorakhpur around 10.30pm.
PM Modi will also inaugurate a new rail line between Vaishali and Deoria, spanning 29 kilometres and constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.403 crore, in Vaishali district. A passenger train on this route will also be inaugurated. This line connects Vaishali - ancient capital of the Lichhavis and birthplace of Lord Mahavir, an important site in Buddhist and Jain heritage - to Deoria. It also links the iconic Kesaria Buddha Stupa, thereby enhancing tourism as part of the Buddhist Circuit. Additionally, the line will facilitate faster freight movement to the Raxaul Terminal near the Nepal border and improve access for agri-based industries and tourism in north Bihar.
According to Siwan administration, the PM will lay foundation of 11 projects of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0) scheme worth Rs.218.3 crore, ten projects of Namami Gange worth Rs.2,639.97 crore, Rs.135 crore for energy department project, Rs.403 crore worth four projects of ECR and two projects of Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojna (Sahri) worth Rs.536.66 crore
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said PM Modi was coming to Bihar to attend the 'National Daamad Aayog' (NDA) meeting. "The PM is once again coming to cheat Bihar. He is here only to abuse Lalu Prasad and me," said Tejashwi, adding, "Will the PM garland all the three sons-in-law appointed to various commissions in Bihar? The NDA now stands for National Damaad (sons-in-law) Alliance." Tejashwi also accused the PM of avoiding real issues like unemployment and migration, and instead focusing only on 'abusing' his rivals....
