Patna: stf busts Lottery racket, 18 nabbed with Rs.1 crore tickets
PATNA, March 20 -- A lottery racket was busted on Wednesday evening, and tickets worth Rs.1 crore were recovered from a roadside house in Paijaba, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bypass police station, officials said.
They said that 18 people were arrested during the operation carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) and the local police, adding that the gang had links across several states, including Nagaland and Jharkhand.
A large number of lottery tickets, computers, offset printing machines, bikes and other equipment were also recovered during the operation.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused based on the statement of the Bypass station house officer (SHO), Ranjit Kumar, and the matter is being investigated from multiple angles.
The gang's modus operandi was to operate under the guise of a printing press to forge and print lottery tickets and coupons for various states. The accused have been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)....
