PATNA, Jan. 23 -- An accounts officer at Patna's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has formally flagged the deficiency in effective supervision of hospital cash at the outpatient department (OPD) billing counters due to the absence of clear administrative control over staff, officials said on Thursday. The warning comes in the backdrop of an alleged fraud of Rs.44.5 lakh at the OPD billing counter, which led to the suspension and arrest of chief cashier Anurag Aman on January 8. In his representation, Anand said he had sought that staff working at the OPD billing counters be placed formally under his reporting authority to enable issuance of directions and enforcement of accountability. However, he alleged that finance and chief accounts officer (F&CAO) Vishal Kumar declined the request.
