PATNA, Jan. 12 -- A female passenger of a SpiceJet flight from Patna to Mumbai died after collapsing at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport on Saturday evening, despite prompt medical assistance and emergency response, airport officials said, even as they refused to identify the passenger.
The incident occurred at around 4.40 pm when the passenger, scheduled to travel on SpiceJet flight SG-337, fainted near the CISF shift-in-charge cubicle at the security hold area (SHA) of the airport. A doctor present nearby was immediately called and administered first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Airport officials alerted the airport fire service, following which an ambulance reached the spot within minutes, around 4.50 pm. The passenger was rushed to Paras Hospital for advanced medical treatment.
However, she could not be revived, and at 5.13 pm the hospital authorities informed the fire crew that the passenger died during treatment.
Airport and airline authorities said all standard emergency protocols were followed promptly after the incident. Further details regarding the passenger's identity and the cause of death were awaited.
