Over 70 commercial LPG cylinders seized from Bettiah-based hotel
BETTIAH, March 31 -- Officials in West Champaran district on Monday seized as many as 73 commercial LPG cylinders from a hotel in Bettiah.
Bettiah Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vikash Kumar said the raid was conducted as part of an ongoing drive in the district. The action took place at a hotel near Bettiah railway station on Monday afternoon. "During the raid, as many as 73 LPG cylinders meant for commercial use were seized. We have sought documents related to these cylinders, and further investigation is underway," the SDM said.
Officials added that there are currently 23,186 LPG cylinders available in stock in West Champaran.
Meanwhile, authorities associated with the Hindustan Petroleum LPG Bottling Plant in Harsidhi, East Champaran, described the panic among consumers over LPG availability as an "artificial crisis."
"The crisis is more perceived than real and is completely artificial. Supply from our plant remains normal. As usual, 55 to 65 trucks leave the plant every day to meet distributors' demand," said Arjun Singh, coordinator of the bottling plant, while speaking to Hindustan Times....
