Nursing college notice 'prohibits marriage'
BETTIAH, April 18 -- A purported notice from a nursing college in Gopalganj district was widely circulated on social media for issuing a "strict warning" to students against getting married during the academic session.
The notice written on the letter head of GNM School, sub-divisional hospital, Hathua, Gopalganj, read that all students are hereby informed that marriage during the academic session is strictly prohibited.
"The information will be brought to the notice of department if any student gets married during this period. Her enrollment is liable to be cancelled with immediate effect and the onus for this will lie solely with the student," read the purported message which was undersigned by the principal of GNM School Ramdulari Kuwar, sub-divisional hospital, Hathua.
The Hindustan Times could not independently verify the authenticity of the letter.
When contacted, Hathua's sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Abhishek Chandan said that the matter has come to his notice.
"We are verifying the authenticity of the letter and action would be taken in accordance with the law, if found true," the SDM said....
