Man gets 20-yr jail term for raping minor
ARA, Aug. 14 -- A man was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a six-year-old girl in Bhojpur district on Wednesday. The sixth additional district and sessions judge-cum-special POCSO court, Ashutosh Kumar Upadhyay, also imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 on the convict.
Saroj Kumari argued the case from prosecution.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Shahpur police station limits on April 29, 2024.
On the day of the incident, the victim was sleeping in a room while her mother was on the roof. Hearing her daughter's cries, the mother rushed to her, and the victim told her that a person, identified as Kanhaiya Yadav, had raped and threatened to kill her if she disclosed about the incident to anyone. The mother had also seen the accused fleeing the spot.
During the trial, the prosecution examined five witnesses....
