Industrialist's son missing after ATM visit
Jamshedpur, Jan. 15 -- Amid suspicion of kidnapping, a 24-year-old son of a leading industrialist of Jharkhand's Jamshedpur city went missing after withdrawing Rs.25 lakh from the Bistupur branch of the Bank of India (BoI) late Tuesday evening and has been traceless till Wednesday evening with police groping in the dark, people aware of the matter said on Wednesday.
"A missing information was filed and we are verifying the same," Kumar Shivashish, Jamshedpur city superintendent of police (SP), told HT on Wednesday evening.
24-year-old Kairav Gandhi, an MBA graduate and son of leading city-based industrialist Devang Gandhi, left his bungalow in posh Circuit House locality under Bistupur police station (PS) in his SUV around 12.30-1.00 pm on Tuesday, apparently for their plant Empire Auto Pvt Ltd but never reached there.
Devang Gandhi has also many other businesses and six industries apart from the Empire Auto and Newtech Auto etc and is also the vice president (VP) of the Adityapur Small Industries Association (AISA), which has requested the police to ensure Kairav's safe and prompt return to home.
According to insiders, Kairav joined the family business in March last year after completing his MBA from Mumbai. His family is the founder of the Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Jamshedpur as well.
"On Tuesday, his phone was switched off soon after he left his house. His SUV was found abandoned near Ranjeet-Manjeet highway eatery and Silver Sand Resort on the NH-33 between Kanderbera chowk and Pardih Chowk. The car key was found under the mat in the car. His last location was found at Sonari Adarsh Nagar and Marine Drive before his phone went switched off. His phone was recovered from under the car," the insiders said.
Sources said that there was no information of any random demand or dubious calls from anyone to the family. Police were, however, examining the CCTV footage and CDR details....
