PATNA, Feb. 12 -- Higher education director NK Agarwal on Wednesday took additional charge as vice chairman of Bihar state higher education council (BSHEC). A notification was issued by the higher education department on Tuesday. The position had fallen vacant on September 22, 2025 with the end of the term of Kameshwar Jha, who served for two consecutive terms. As per the notification, Agarwal will continue with the additional charge till the regular appointment of the vice chairman. Education minister is the ex-officio chairman of the council. BSHEC is a mandatory requirement under the Rashtriya Uchchatara Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) with focus on state universities and colleges through planning, evaluation and capacity building.
