CM convoy delay leads to driver's suspension
Dehradun, Dec. 19 -- A constable driver was suspended with immediate effect after a vehicle assigned to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's convoy failed to start on time during fleet movement on Thursday, officials said.
Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh said he ordered the suspension of constable driver Deepak Saini, citing negligence in duty. According to officials, the lapse occurred when the vehicle, part of the CM convoy, did not start as scheduled during the movement, disrupting the convoy protocol.
Following the incident, the SSP directed a thorough review of the maintenance records of all vehicles deployed in the VIP fleet.
Officials said that the inspection of maintenance books and logbooks revealed that all vehicles had been properly serviced as per norms.
Despite the vehicles being shown as mechanically fit in official records, the SSP ordered a detailed inquiry to ascertain the exact reason behind the failure of the convoy vehicle. The investigation has been entrusted to the Traffic Circle Officer, who has been asked to examine whether the issue arose due to technical failure, procedural lapse, or any other factor....
