PATNA, July 21 -- The newly-constructed Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Memorial Stupa in Vaishali would be inaugurated in the last week of July in presence of Buddhist monks from 15 Buddhist countries at the event, said a press statement issued by the information and public relations department ( IPRD) on Sunday. The Buddhist monks to attend the event in Vaishali would come from different countries like Japan, Sri Lanka Myanmar, Thailand, Bhutan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mongolia and other nations. The museum and memorial Stupa, constructed at a cost of Rs.550.48 crore and spread over 72 acres of land, has been developed near the Pushkarni lake and Mand stupa. The urn carrying the relics of Lord Buddha would be displayed at the first floor of the museum. The urn carrying the sacred relics of lord Buddha were discovered during an excavation in 1958-52. The memorial Stupa is completely made of sandstone with specially carved stones brought from Vanshi Paharpur in Rajasthan. The structure has been built so that it could withstand earthquakes and remain safe for long time. The premises would have a meditation centre, library, guest centre, museum block , amphitheatre, cafeteria , solar energy set up, parking and other facilities for the convenience of the visitors. Artists from Odisha having carved the statue of lord Buddha would be another attraction. The Stupa would not only be a religious place for the Buddhists but also find a prominent place in the map of Buddhist tourist sites. The new Museum and Stupa premises would also give a boost to local employment and add a new chapter for promoting tourism and culture in the state, the release said....
