PATNA, Jan. 7 -- Barely six days after assuming the charge of chairman of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), a 1989-batch former IPS officer Alok Raj on Tuesday resigned from the post after allegedly getting caught in the political crossfire. Prior to this, he was in-charge of this post for the last one year. A DG-rank officer, who also worked as DGP for a couple of months, he retired from the Indian Police Service (IPS) on December 31. Later, the General Administration Department (GAD) issued a fresh notification appointing him for a full five-year term as the BSSC chairman.
