BJP forms campaign panel for Bihar polls
Patna, Sept. 29 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced a 45-member campaign committee for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, slated to be held in less than two months.
According to a party press release, the panel includes top state and national leaders, with BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, and three Union ministers - Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai and Satish Chandra Dubey - among its members.
The committee also features five ministers from the Bihar cabinet: Mangal Pandey, Prem Kumar, Renu Devi, Hari Sahni and Krishna Kumar Mantu. In addition, five former Union ministers - Radha Mohan Singh, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Rajeev Pratap Rudy and Syed Shahnawaz Hussain - have been inducted.
Former state party chiefs Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, now a Lok Sabha MP, and Gopal Narayan Singh, a former Rajya Sabha member, are also on the panel. Other names include MPs and legislators such as Janak Ram, Hari Sahni, Rituraj Sinha, Vivek Thakur, Rama Devi, Pradeep Kumar Singh, Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Gopalji Thakur and Ashok Yadav.
The committee will be responsible for taking key decisions related to the campaign strategy and electioneering in the state.
Earlier, on September 25, the BJP had appointed Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the party's election in-charge for Bihar. Union minister C.R. Patil and Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya were named as co-incharges....
