PATNA, Feb. 6 -- Bihar special task force (STF) arrested the gang leaders of 'Baap-Beta' gang from Bengaluru, officials said on Thursday. DGP(operation) Kundan Krishnan said notorious Manoj Singh (54) and his son Manik Singh (30), of Shambhupur village under Naubatpur police station in Patna were arrested with the help of Bengaluru State Intelligence Police. The arrested persons were gang leaders and professional murderers and contract killers. They earned money from extortion. Manik carried a reward of Rs.3 lakh on his head while his father carried Rs.1 lakh. Both father and son were wanted in two separate cases registered with Danapur and Naubatpur police stations. In the first case, an under trial prisoner Abhishek Singh alias Chhote Sarkar was gunned down on court premises on December 15, 2023 by the hired criminals of Manoj Singh known as Doctor Sahab. Chhote Sarkar, a resident of Sikandarpur village under Bihta police station, who had 18 criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and robbery, was being escorted to a trial court from lockup. Two armed assailants fired at him from sophisticated weapons. Both tried to escape taking advantage of the usually big crowd on court premises, but people chased and caught the duo , gave them a sound thrashing and handed them over to the police. Both the accused are said to be residents of Muzaffarpur and one of them sustained injuries in the incident. Similarly, Manik known as Aditya, was wanted in a murder case of sand trader Manish Kumar alias Munna in March 2025 by the henchmen of Manik. The police recovered Rs.11,290 cash, eight dongles, nine Android mobile phones, three keypad phones, and a gold chain from their possession.
