PATNA, May 21 -- An Indian Army jawan was killed during an operation in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Monday night, officials said. The deceased was identified as Havildar Santosh Kumar Yadav (45), a native of Bhitta (Naugachhiya) in Bhagalpur district. At the time of the incident, he was travelling in an army vehicle that reportedly fell into a ditch. However, some family members claimed he died during an exchange of fire. The Bhagalpur administration has yet to verify these claims. The news of his death reached the family on Tuesday morning, while his wife, Sadhna Kumari alias Guriya, was preparing their children for school.
