9 cops injured in mob attack in W Champaran
BETTIAH, Jan. 13 -- At least nine police personnel, including one woman constable, were injured - two of them critically - after a mob attacked a police team that had rushed to a village following a clash between two groups in Bagaha police district of Bihar's West Champaran, police said on Monday, adding five people had been arrested in this connection.
According to police, the incident occurred around 9pm on Sunday when a team rushed to Gobarahiya village under Laukaria police station to intervene after receiving information about a clash between two groups. "While, the police team was trying to pacify and control the escalating situation, some antisocial elements went after the team and attacked cops with lathi," said Bagaha police in an official statement. ....
