DARBHANGA, Feb. 1 -- A local court in Darbhanga on Saturday sentenced five accused, including two senior advocates, to life imprisonment, and imposed a fine of Rs.10 lakh on each in connection with a 1994 murder and attempt-to-murder case. Additional Sessions Judge Suman Kumar Diwakar pronounced the sentence. The convicts had been found guilty on January 5, 2026. Public prosecutor Amarendra Narayan Jha said the incident dates back to August 8, 1994, when 10 cattle rearers from Patori village were fired upon near a pond by a group from Basant village, leaving all of them injured.
