JAMSHEDPUR, Jan. 24 -- Dead bodies of two more slain Maoist extremists were recovered on Friday amid fresh exchange of fire in the jungles near Kumdih village under the Chotanagra police station limits inside Saranda Forests, taking the total number of slain Naxals up to 17, officials said on Friday. "The dead bodies of a male and a female Maoist extremists have been recovered today amid fresh firing by the Naxals near Kumdih village under the Chotanagra PS inside Saranda Forests today. The total number of Naxals neutralised in the 30-hour long 'Operation Mega Buru' is now 17. All the slain Maoists have been identified. The forces are yet to come out as our operation is still continuing. Further details will be shared later," Amit Renu, West Singhbhum superintendent of police (SP) told HT on Friday. This has now emerged as the biggest and most successful anti-Naxal operation in the history of Jharkhand. The SP himself was leading the operation and was yet to return and forces were still busy in searching dead bodies and bringing them out for legal formalities. "The Naxals opened fire again when the joint forces of CRPF, CoBRA 209 Battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar and state police continued with the search operation to bring out the dead bodies of the slain Maoists this morning. They managed to flee into the forests in face of heavy retaliatory fire by the security forces," a senior official said. The SP said that the dead bodies of sub-zonal committee member (SZCM) Samir Soren alias Samay Soren, carrying a bounty of Rs.5 lakh, from Indkudi of Bankura district in West Bengal, women cadres Sarita and Somwari Purty from Goilkera in West Singhbhum district (cadre) were recovered late on Thursday night. "The dead bodies of zonal committee member (ZCM) Rapa alias Powell and women Maoist cadres Soma Honhaga and Mukti Honhaga have also been recovered and identified now," added the SP. Officials said now the focus was on CCM Misir Besra alias Nirbhay and Asim Mondal alias Akash alias Timir, the two of the topmost Maoist commanders in Jharkhand....
