BETTIAH, May 12 -- Two bike-borne liquor smugglers were arrested after they allegedly ran over an assistant sub inspector (ASI) while attempting to evade a checkpost in East Champaran, police said Monday. The officer sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment. Police said they barricaded national highway 27 near Dumariaghat bridge on Sunday evening following a tip-off. Dumariaghat SHO Vivek Kumar Balendu said, "When ASI Manish Kumar signalled them to stop for inspection, they allegedly knocked him down before fleeing.
