PATNA, Jan. 22 -- Panic prevailed after a group of inmates of Jackson hostel in Patna University (PU) allegedly exploded bombs over alleged molestation of a female friend at Krishna Ghat under Sultanganj police station on Tuesday night. Two students, said to be minors, were injured in the incident. Soon, the police raided the various hostels of the varsity and recovered 40 sutli (bombs made of thread) bombs, bomb-making materials, a bag containing matchsticks, one plastic box with iron nails, 118 pieces of empty matchbox, one bottle containing 400 ml petrol, and arrested 7 persons in this connection. Police said the incident took place at around 9pm when Prince Kumar, a student of Science College along with his female friend went to Krishna Ghat for a cup of tea, when a clash took place with some inmates of CV Raman hostel over harassment of the female friend, said a police officer. He said that later inmates of Jackson hostel threw crude bombs on the boundary of CV Raman hostel and fired several rounds of bullets to create terror. Several motorcycles parked at the CV Raman hostel were also damaged during the bombing, said a police officer. City SP (central), Diksha said on January 20 night, a dispute and use of 'sutli' bombs came to light during a clash at Krishna Ghat. "Taking serious note of the incident, the police came into action and arrested 7 accused along with incriminating materials used for making the bombs. Two cases, one at Sultanganj police station and another at Pirbahore police station were lodged," she added. DSP-1, Patna City, Rajkishore Singh said all the students fled before the police arrived.
