2 ex-naxalites arrested in East Champaran
BETTIAH, Feb. 16 -- Police in East Champaran district arrested a father-son duo in Patahi area for their alleged past links with a banned ultra-Left organisation, officials said on Saturday evening.
According to the police, the former naxalites, identified as Raj Kumar Rai and his son Umesh Rai, residents of Champapur village under Patahi police station of East Champaran, were accused of the murder of two people and were arrested from their native village on a tip off about their presence in their house on Friday late night.
"They have been forwarded to jail," said Baban Kumar, SHO, Patahi police station.
Police said the duos had joined the banned outfit after committing the double murder in 2006.
"Naxalite-related cases were registered against them. We are also verifying their possible involvement in cases registered at other police stations," the SHO said....
