18-year-old student shot while returning from exam centre
PURNEA, Feb. 4 -- An 18-year-old intermediate examinee was shot while he was returning from an examination centre in Bihar's Purnea on Tuesday. The student is undergoing treatment at the government medical college and hospital (GMCH) where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
The incident took place 500-meter from the examination centre in Purnea-Shri-Nagar Road falling under the jurisdiction of K Nagar police station.
The police said that the examinee along with his two friends was going on foot when bike-borne criminals stopped one of them and shot him in his leg and escaped. Soon the friends rushed him to the GMCH where he is undergoing treatment.
"We have not yet got any information about the criminals as neither the victim nor his friends have told anything to the police. We have started a probe from all possible angles and soon the accused will be nabbed," police said.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rajesh Kumar said, "We have taken statements from both the students and the family members but nothing has come out as yet."
He however added that the condition of the examinee is out of danger.
The examinee has been identified as Divyanshu Kumar, a student of Kemai Sondeep High School, Bhawanipur. He appeared at the examination of Mathematics in the first sitting at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Baghmara, five km from district headquarters. Manoj Kumar Singh, father of the student, said, "I don't think he has any animosity with anyone. He may have had some arguments with someone at the centre which led to the incident."...
