Western line local services to be normalised from today
Mumbai, Jan. 22 -- Two days after a technical goof-up disrupted the newly commissioned fifth and sixth lines on Western Railway, authorities on Wednesday rectified the issue at the Kandivali car shed and declared the tracks fit for operations. Train services are expected to return to normal from Thursday.
The problem, identified at the entry and exit points of the Kandivali car shed, was corrected on Wednesday. A day earlier, Western Railway had planned to cancel 102 local services to carry out the repairs but later restored operations, even running an additional Malad-Churchgate fast local that departed Malad at 9.06 am.
The sixth line between Kandivali and Borivali had been opened following a 30-day block from December 18 under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP).
The block was used to construct the 3.5-km line and carry out related work at the Kandivali car shed....
