MUMBAI/THANE, Jan. 24 -- Parts of Mumbai and Thane will face water cuts from January 27 to February 7, due to annual maintenance work at the Pise water treatment facilities on the Bhatsa River. In Mumbai, areas from Colaba to Dadar and the entire eastern suburbs from Mankhurd to Mulund will experience a 10% water cut. In Thane, several localities under the Thane Municipal Corporation will face phased 24-hour water shutdowns. The work involves maintenance of the pneumatic (Nautic) gate system at the Pise plant, which supplies nearly 55% of the city's daily water needs. A malfunction of this system in December 2024 had earlier disrupted supply....
