NAVI MUMBAI, Feb. 25 -- Two men from Punjab were arrested in Taloja after Navi Mumbai police seized heroin and opium worth Rs.1.02 crore during a raid on Monday. The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the crime branch conducted the raid at Mahavir Majesty in Ghot Camp following specific intelligence inputs, police said. The accused, Surinder Gurujant Singh alias Kalu, 24, and Maninder Gurujant Singh, 27, both from Moga district in Punjab, were allegedly found in possession of 118 grams of heroin and 143.6 grams of opium. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth Rs.1.02 crore in the illegal market. A case has been registered at Taloja police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Assistant commissioner of police Prerana Katte said that since last year, six cases involving narcotics routed from Punjab have been registered in Navi Mumbai, and 33 accused have been arrested so far in connection with these cases. Police are searching for a third accused, reportedly a truck driver, and probing the larger interstate drug trafficking network....
